Getting to Antwerp

Antwerp is the centre of Europe and reasonable prices make it affordable for everyone.

No other destination can compare in terms of value for money and the art of living... and, what's more, in Brussels, they often speak more than six different languages!

Built-up areas: 50 km/h and 30 km/h zones, other roads: 90 km/h and 70 km/h zones; Motorways: 120 km/h.

Other details: Motorways are toll-free (with exception of the Liefkenshoektunnel). Seat-belts must be worn by both front and rear passengers. Maximum permitted blood alcohol level: 0.5 grams per litre .

Depending on the region, road signs are mainly in Dutch and/or French. Priority: drivers must give way to priority vehicles (trams, buses, ambulances) or to vehicles coming from the right.

ARRIVAL BY TRAIN

Both international trains and inter-city trains stop in Antwerpen-Centraal and Antwerpen-Berchem stations. Every hour 15 IC, IR or L-trains stop from/to Antwerp.

When visiting Antwerp you can take advantage of the commercial all-in formulas of Belgian rail company NMBS. These “B-Day Trips” include a train ticket plus entry to one attraction, as well as other transport. Train passes, weekend tickets or group rates (from 15 persons) are also interesting options.

From Paris

A direct high speed train (Thalys) brings you in less than two hours from the Gare du Nord in Paris to Antwerp. The train stops at the Antwerp central station.

More info can be found on the Thalys website. Mind you, Antwerp is sometimes referred to as 'Anvers' (French for Antwerp) on this website...

From London

The Eurostar, a high speed train, connects London Waterloo Station to Brussels South Station. From there, you can take a regular train directly to Antwerp Central Station. For more info, check out the Eurostar website

From Amsterdam

The high speed train route between Antwerp and Paris stops at Antwerp's central station. You can also take a regular intercity train, which connects the Amsterdam Central Station to the Antwerp Central Station in about 2 hrs. The trains also stop at the Schiphol National Airport. For schedules, check the NS-website.

From other cities

The Thalys high speed train connects Antwerp to several cities. For connections to other cities, check out the railway route planner of the NMBS, the Belgian national railway operator.
